Surman, Libya.  Boys and Girls Memorizing the Koran in the Madrasa of Sidi Rashid al-Galili.  They study under the supervision of Bashir, a "muqri".  He wears the traditional "holi" or "jard", a white cloak.  Young girls wear the traditional Libyan head scarf.  Boys may wear traditional garments, but western or European sport shirts or T-shirts are more popular.
